These two artworks celebrate the principal sports played at one of Australia’s best know stadiums, the Brisbane Cricket Ground; or “The Gabba” as it is affectionately called by locals.

The first work celebrates cricket and the State and International teams that play at the stadium are included. The Gabba is home to the Queensland Bulls and Australia regularly plays there.

The colours and name of each team are represented to express the excitement and energy of the game and to provide a focus for both local and visiting fans. The history of the game is reflected by the inclusion of the years on which Australia won the Cricket World Cup and Queensland the domestic competition. Additional dates can be added! The work also seeks to compliment the scale and form of the stadium architecture.

The second work celebrates Australian Rules Football (Aussie Rules) and the teams that play in the national competition, including the Brisbane Lions who play their home games at The Gabba.

The colours and name of each team are represented to express the excitement and energy of the game and to provide a focus for both local and visiting fans. The history of the Lions is reflected through the inclusion of their formative teams (Bears and Fitzroy) and the years in which they won the Premiership.
